NAPS believes social and emotional learning is at the core of a middle school experience. At NAPS, students have the benefit of small class sizes, nurturing teachers, and easy transitions within the school.
The goal of middle school at NAPS is to lessen the anxiety of social pressures, and have a familiar space for students with an emphasis on academic rigor. Field trips and community service projects that directly connect to the curriculum are a major component.
NAPS is affordable, offers character education lessons, access to hands-on learning, and leadership roles for students. A NAPS middle school experience guarantees students are in an environment in which they can be comfortable and supported during these critical adolescent years. Teachers and staff know all students’ learning styles to include strengths and weaknesses in an attempt to aid students in maximizing academic success.
Middle school can be a magical time for students, especially at NAPS!
SECONDARY SCHOOL APPLICATION POLICY & PROCEDURE
The NAPS Middle School program is defined by the "Magic in the Middle," a commitment to an intimate setting where students are deeply known, supported, and challenged during a period of rapid social and emotional change.
The NAPS Middle School admissions process is a holistic evaluation designed to identify students for whom our small, individualized program provides the optimal environment to meet their unique developmental needs as they transition into adolescence. Our goal is to ensure mutual fit, confirming that the NAPS culture, built on kindness and community, can foster the happiness and success of each accepted student.
Intentionally Small Enrollment: Total Middle School enrollment (Grades 6–8) is capped between 38 and 45 students to preserve the quality of the NAPS experience, allowing for approximately 12 to 17 students per class. Selection is mandatory for Grade 6 entry.
Target Entry Point: The major entry point is Sixth Grade. Applications for Grades 7 and 8 are considered on a limited, space-available basis.
Dual Admissions Tracks:
Internal Candidates: Current NAPS 5th Graders must complete an application for admission into Grade 6. This process is mandatory and selective. The timeline is accelerated to give families ample time to explore alternative options without stigma.
External Candidates: New Applicants, Grades 6–8 (Space-Available). This track is for students who are not currently enrolled at NAPS. External applications are considered only after internal placement offers are finalized and any remaining spaces are confirmed.
6th Grade for the 2026-27 academic year will be at capacity with internal NAPS applicants. Anyone wishing to be considered for admission, or to be included on our waitlist, for secondary grades must submit a completed application and nonrefundable application fee.
